We enjoyed Baird's (our King Charles Cavalier) conscious and unconditional love for twelve years. Then, in less than 24 hours...his spirit left his body.
We were surprised, shocked, and heartbroken.
He taught us so much about patience, how to love, dedication, quiet support, and accepting life as it comes.
Over the years, I photographed him, drew him, drew cartoons, and created other artistic creations to honor this delightful soul.
It has been an expression of love through art.
Those we love, we can honor in so many ways through our artistic expression. Some artists do this routinely, while others may only do so occasionally. There are no rules for what we should do or how to express ourselves.
Yet life has its own set of rules, and life's rules always take precedence. Those we love are here today and gone tomorrow. This is life. When they are gone, it is permanent and too late to let them know you love and care.
I choose to celebrate those I love as much in the now as possible. For me, it serves two purposes. My art expresses how I feel, and they know it. My art (including photographs) document who they are and what they bring to our world.
